Meet Our Team
Kim Pate
Co-Founder & Director
Kim is the co-founder and leader of In the Midst Honduras and has faithfully served in missions for more than 20 years. Originally from Boaz, Alabama, Kim was sent out by her home church, Bethlehem Baptist Church, with a clear calling to share the Gospel and walk alongside people in long-term, relational ministry.
Before moving to Honduras in 2015, Kim spent ten years serving in Nicaragua, where the Lord further shaped her heart for discipleship, cross-cultural ministry, and walking patiently with people through every season of life. Her years on the mission field have been marked by consistency, humility, and a deep reliance on God’s Word.
Kim is known for her genuine love for both the Lord and people. She has a gift for building meaningful relationships, listening well, and discerning the deeper needs of those she serves. Wise and slow to speak, she approaches ministry with prayerful intention, always seeking to point others to Jesus—the true source of hope and transformation.
Her greatest desire is to see souls saved and discipled, growing in maturity and confidence in their walk with Christ. Kim spends much of her time in Honduras visiting all four church plants, counseling church members, teaching Sunday School and discipleship classes when available, and encouraging local leadership. She also works closely with U.S.-based teams, helping them engage in ministry that is rooted in relationship and long-term impact.
Kim’s life and leadership reflect the heart of In the Midst Honduras—living faithfully in the midst of the people God has called us to serve.

Rony CastilloPastor | ITM Guaimaca & ITM Aguacatal
Rony serves as pastor of ITM Guaimaca and ITM Aguacatal. His journey with In the Midst Honduras began when he was saved under the ministry—an experience that radically transformed his life and calling.
A welder by trade, Rony first came to La Ermita to work on the construction of the church building. While working during church services, the Lord began to convict his heart. Over time, he stopped working during the services, began attending faithfully, and ultimately surrendered his life to Christ. From that moment on, Rony has been passionately on fire for the Lord.
Known for a personality and passion for Christ far greater than his physical stature, Rony pastors tirelessly, faithfully shepherding two congregations while still making time to assist with ministry construction projects and personal visitation. His joy, humility, and unwavering dedication to the Gospel are evident in every area of his service.
Those who know him well recognize his joyful “¡Aleluya!” shout echoing through the mountains as he enters the community of Aguacatal—serving as a kind of church bell, joyfully announcing that worship is about to begin. His people know that when they hear his voice, church is near.
Rony is married to his wife, Jami, and together they have four adult children and four grandchildren. His life is a testimony to the transforming power of Christ and the beauty of God raising up leaders from within the very communities He longs to reach.

Miguel Chavarria
Pastor | ITM San Jerónimo
Miguel serves as the pastor of ITM San Jerónimo. Originally from Choluteca, Miguel spent many years in La Ermita where he married his wife, Lourdes. It was there that both Miguel and Lourdes surrendered their lives to Christ, and the Lord radically transformed their hearts and direction.
For many years, Miguel faithfully served in the church as a musician, playing guitar and leading in worship, but he felt the Lord calling him to pastoral ministry. Over time, the Lord clearly led their family to San Jerónimo to pastor the church and serve the community there.
Miguel is known for his tender heart and deep compassion for people. He shepherds his congregation with a gentle spirit, patience, and sincere love for the Lord, investing personally in the lives of those he serves. Alongside Lourdes, he has faithfully built relationships and met practical needs within the community.
San Jerónimo is an area strongly influenced by Catholic tradition, yet over time hearts have begun to open to the Gospel. Much of this change has come through Miguel and Lourdes’ consistent presence, relational ministry, and faithful witness to the transforming power of Christ.
Miguel and Lourdes have two adult daughters and one teenage son. Their lives and ministry reflect the quiet faithfulness and steady love that continue to bear fruit in the work God is doing through In the Midst Honduras.

Anthony Romero
Facilities & Transportation Coordinator
Tony Romero has been part of In the Midst Honduras since the very beginning and was one of the first people we met when we arrived in Honduras. From those early days, Tony has faithfully served wherever there was a need, always with a willing heart and a servant’s spirit.
Tony initially served the ministry as a translator, helping bridge language and cultural gaps. Over time, his role naturally grew, and he now oversees the care and upkeep of the ministry’s facilities, ensuring that everything runs smoothly and safely for daily operations, church activities, and visiting teams.
When he isn’t maintaining the grounds or tending to practical needs around the mission, Tony can often be found transporting people to and from church—quietly making sure others have the opportunity to gather, worship, and grow in community.
In addition to his ministry responsibilities, Tony faithfully serves the church as a deacon and a men’s Sunday School teacher. He is married to his wife, Belinda, and they have three grown children and one son still living at home. They are also raising two of their five grandchildren, faithfully pouring love, stability, and Christ-centered guidance into the next generation.
Tony’s steady presence, humility, and servant leadership reflect a deep love for the Lord and a heart committed to strengthening both the ministry and the local church.

Belinda Jirón
Feeding Program Director
Belinda serves as the Feeding Program Director for In the Midst Honduras and has been part of the ministry from the very beginning, alongside her husband, Tony. From the earliest days, Belinda has faithfully used her gifts to serve others with excellence, joy, and love.
Belinda has a special gift for cooking and oversees the daily preparation of meals for the children and elderly served through the feeding program. She thoughtfully plans menus and adds her personal touch to every meal, ensuring that those who are fed not only receive nourishment, but also experience care and dignity.
In addition to serving the feeding program, Belinda lovingly serves visiting mission teams, preparing meals that are often remembered long after the trip ends. Many say her cooking is some of the best they have ever experienced—anywhere in the world.
Belinda has one son and carries a deep heart for caring for children who are not her own. Over the years, many children have lived in her home, and she is currently raising two of her grandchildren, faithfully providing love, stability, and Christ-centered care.
When she is not in the kitchen, Belinda continues to serve faithfully within the local church.
